This "Maple Leaf Pure Lard" tin dates back to the 1940s, back when the lard was, surely, oh so pure. Its large, yellow-and-black metal container held 50 pounds of lard and was produced by the Oswald & Hess meatpacking company in Pittsburgh. Collectors covet these tins for their bold yellow and black black graphics; any lover of typography and vintage advertising will swoon. But anyone can love how it's charmingly loud in its simplicity, and unapologetically proud of the wholesome fat it holds.
